Multi-Award winning Carrie Underwood hit the stage with the legendary rockers at the start of a three date leg of their tour.
Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada witnessed a musical fusion like no other as the country sensation took to the stage on August 5 for the inaugural night of her summer tour opening for rock legends Guns N' Roses. With her powerhouse vocals and a playlist that transcended genres, Underwood brought her country charm to the realm of hard rock, delivering an unforgettable performance that captivated the audience.
Underwood's electrifying set kicked off with a fiery rendition of Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation," setting the tone for an evening of unexpected musical delights. The song itself has history for the artist, having performed it alongside Joan Jett herself during the 2019 CMA Fest in Nashville, TN.
However, her rock-inspired covers didn't stop there. As the night unfolded, she weaved her signature vocals into iconic classics like Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses," Motörhead's "Ace of Spades," and Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll." Underwood's ability to seamlessly transition across genres showcased her versatility and musical prowess.
Yet, her performance remained rooted in her own artistry, as her chart-topping hits like "Blown Away," "Church Bells," and "Before He Cheats" reverberated through the venue. The stage also welcomed selections from her latest album, "Denim & Rhinestones," including tracks like "Crazy Angels" and "Hate My Heart."
Underwood's surprise-laden setlist was announced through a tweet that teased the audience with the promise of new musical experiences. "Got a lot of surprises tonight!" she exclaimed. "Thought we'd have some fun with the set list. Gonna play some songs/mash-ups/covers I've never done before and thought they'd be good for my fellow Gunners!"
The night reached its climax as Underwood returned to share the stage with Guns N' Roses for duet renditions of timeless classics "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "Paradise City."
Underwood's journey alongside rock legends Guns N' Roses continues with a show in Montreal on August 8, before culminating in her hometown of Nashville, Tenn, on August 26.
