In a Twitter post on August 29, the iconic musician provided a sneak peek of her upcoming journey on the show through a comical video clip accompanied by a playful background tune. The preview suggests that viewers can anticipate an abundance of fun interactions between McEntire and her fellow coaches, including John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and Niall Horan.
Reba McEntire, some may hail as a queen of country music, is set to take on a new role starting September 25th as she joins the coaching panel for Season 24 of The Voice.
Amidst the fresh talent vying for a spot through auditions, Season 24 appears to promise not only impressive vocal performances but also whimsical elements like tater tots and cutouts of McEntire's trademark red hair for everyone to embrace her distinctive style, all while generating plenty of laughter.
Her tweet read, "Hear ye, hear ye! 👑 I've taken the throne as the newest coach for Season 24 of #TheVoice! Don't miss the premiere September 25th & 26th on @nbc and streaming on @peacock to catch all the magic. @NBCTheVoice #QueenReba"
McEntire's appointment comes as a replacement for Blake Shelton, who previously announced his decision to step down from the show after 23 seasons. Shelton's exit holds significance as he's the show's longest-serving and most successful coach with nine wins under his belt.
McEntire herself acknowledged the challenge of filling Shelton's shoes, recognizing the high standards he set for his fellow coaches. In an interview with ET's Online Country, she pondered, "Who could fill Blake's shoes? To fill Blake's chair? Wow. That's gonna be tough. He did a great job, and kudos to him."
While McEntire may be the newest addition to the team, she is not entirely new to The Voice. Initially, she was approached to be part of the inaugural season of the Emmy Award-winning musical competition series, but she declined the opportunity before its first debut in 2011.
"The first time I ever heard of The Voice, I saw the tape from Holland's [version of the show]," she shared. "They asked me to do it, and I turned it down."
While not a coach at that time, the "Does He Love You" singer did serve briefly as Blake Shelton's battle round advisor. More recently, she participated in the show's latest season as a Mega Mentor.
Additionally, it has been announced that McEntire will return as a coach in 2024, alongside John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay.
